On July 22, 2007 the Spice of Life Sunday School class began a new unit
of study using materials from a series of sermons entitled "You've Got
Style". These messages com from Andy Stanley who is the senior pastor
at the North Point Community Church in Atlanta, Georgia. These sessions
will help us understand the existence of various worship styles in
believers and help us better recognize our own style and how we relate
to our fellow Christians who have different worship styles than our
own.
I know that it is not always possible to attend Sunday School each
week so I will be posting each week's video here so you can review or
catch up. I'll also post the discussion questions for each video and if
we have interest, develop a discussion area where we can post comments
in a private area.
Click the "Read More" link to view the videos and print the self exam for session 1.
Please print the linked Adobe Acrobat document and carefully answer
each question. Bring your results to class. There are no right or wrong
answers. This exercise is designed to help us identify more accurately
our own style. Worship Style Self Exam
Below two videos from session one are linked to help folks catch up who
have missed. Clink the link and the video will open in a new window.

Session1

The following five questions were a part of our discussion in class for the first session.
-
Of all the different types of Christian churches in the world, which
type is most appealing to you personally? Which one is least appealing?
-
Describe a situation or environment from your life in which you felt
the closest to God. What was it that made you feel close to God?
-
If you were to create a list of things you must do to draw near to
God, what would it contain? How does your list differ from others in
the group? From your spouse? From your parents?
-
Why do you think God does not give us a list of things to do in order to draw near to Him?
-
Based on your unique personality, name at least one thing you should begin doing in order to help you draw near to God.

The following five questions were a part of our discussion in class for the second session.
- Based on the descriptions in this session, which style best describes you?
- Why do you think God allows such diverse methods for drawing near to him?
- What are some ways your style has been compatible/incompatible with that of key people in your life (spouse, parents, friends)?
- How would having an understanding of the different styles have helped you in those situations?
- Knowing your unique style, what changes should you make to improve your ability to draw near to God?
