After some digging, we found the long lost cassette tape my grandfather made with a hand held recorder of part of the graduation ceremony from 1974 in Great Bend, Kansas.
As technology has improved and put more and more sophisticated tools into the hands of dangerous neophytes like myself, it is possible to get a modestly decent sound from a really nasty recording.
